Swedish and Finnish Pre-Service Teachers’ Perceptions of Summative Assessment Practices

Summative assessments are an exercise of authority and something that pupils cannot easily appeal. The importance teachers being able to assess their correctly is consequently both a question national equivalence individual fairness. Therefore, summative assessment paramount theme in teacher education, we aimed investigate the perceptions competence student regarding common practices. study was conducted at three universities, two Sweden one Finland involving prospective language responding online survey (N = 131). In addition, interviews were carried out with 20 Swedish 6 Finnish teachers. analysis data indicates value practices enhance communication collaboration as well curricular alignment assessments. With respect perceived competence, respondents general felt most confident deploying traditional forms assessment, while they more uncertain about process evaluation oral skills. Regarding significant differences participants’ among university students reported higher levels all variables. However, room for improvement found universities involved.
